MIAMI, Florida (APRIL 1, 2013). Prince Royce, the most successful breakthrough artist Latin music has seen in many years, has just signed a major recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment with plans to release Spanish-language Bachata/Pop albums through Sony Music Latin as well as English-language Pop albums via RCA Records.
“I’m excited about this new move in my career which will help to expand the global reach of my music. I chose Sony as it was clear we have the same passion and common vision about the direction in which we want to take my music and career,” expressed the twenty-three year old singer-songwriter.
“We are thrilled about the opportunity to work with such a dynamic Latin artist on his first English album. Prince Royce’s early successes have paved the way for the next generation of Latin music and we are eager to join forces with our partners Sony Music Latin to fully maximize his music and career,” said Peter Edge, CEO of RCA Records.
“Having Prince Royce join the Sony family is a dream come true. We thank Royce and David Sonenberg for placing their trust in us and look forward to all the success to come,” added Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO, Latin Region, Spain and Portugal.
Upon becoming a free agent last month, the young artist instantly became a very hot commodity amongst top record labels vying to have him on their roster. In the end, Sony Music Entertainment, which reps crossover international artists such as Shakira and Pitbull and mainstream acts, Justin Timberlake and Usher, proved to be the perfect home for Royce’s music.
“In seeking a home for Royce, we wanted a label that was genuinely excited about the music he wants to make. The excited and passionate response that Afo, Nir and Peter showed us when we played them new music, made it an easy choice. We’re looking forward to a long and successful journey,” said the artist’s manager David Sonenberg, of DAS Communications.
“Making a tremendous mark right out of the box, Prince Royce has quickly become a leading voice for young Latinos. An icon in music, style and image, he inspires a generation that knows no borders. We are honored that he chose Sony as his partner in the next chapter of his success story,” expressed Nir Seroussi, Managing Director, Sony Music Latin.
Fans can expect Prince Royce’s first Spanish-language album under Sony to be released this fall with an English-language release slated for 2014.
Prince Royce is the biggest breakthrough artist the Latin music industry has seen in many years.
